Partner Overview

The Youth Development Clinic (YDC) was founded in 1958 as a private, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization by a consortium of Newark residents, the Prudential Insurance Company of America, and the Newark Board of Education. YDC provides services to children in schools and community-based settings, as well as in their outpatient clinic in downtown Newark, New Jersey. YDC counsels those with significant behavioral and emotional needs, working to stabilize their behaviors and foster learning. YDC als provides consultation to school staff to support and manage students and effectively maximize their educational attainment with minimal disruptions to the classroom.

Service Overview

We offer behavioral health counseling for children and youth, and their parents /caregivers. YDC is a licensed outpatient provider for children and their families. YDC clinicians work with children of all ages and their families to address emotional, social, and behavioral difficulties including, but not limited to:

– Anxiety Depression
– Social skills development
– Aggressive behaviors |Foster care
– Adoption related issue
– Challenges w/ school adjustment
– Trauma |Grief and Loss counseling
– YDC’s clients range from infants to children of age 18
– Offer Individual and Family Therapy
– Provide bilingual counseling in Spanish and Creole
– Currently only accepting Medicaid: Information on transportation can be provided for Medicaid approved clients
